Tips
Mango Selection: Choose very ripe mangoes for the sweetest flavor and smoothest texture. They should yield slightly to pressure and have a fragrant aroma at the stem end.
Ginger Intensity: Start with less ginger and add more to taste - fresh ginger can vary in strength. For a milder version, use 1-inch piece; for more heat, use the full 2-inch piece.
Straining Success: Straining removes any fibrous bits and creates a silky smooth drink. Press the pulp firmly to extract all the flavorful liquid.
Make-Ahead Option: The mango-ginger base can be prepared up to 2 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Add sparkling water just before serving to maintain fizz.
Sweetness Adjustment: Honey dissolves better than sugar in cold drinks. Agave nectar or maple syrup also work well as alternatives.
Serving Variations: For an adult version, add a splash of rum or vodka. You can also freeze the mixture in ice pop molds for a fun frozen treat.
